got asked by a mate to be his back up best man incase his brother backs out 
iv already been a best man twice and neither of them had back up best men so im wondering is this a common thing? do i need to write a speech or should i just sit back and relax safe in the knowledge that it wont happen?

My mate was torn between two people for his best man. And it didnt go to me, so he made me Usher instead. Back-up just sounds odd.

i was my bro's best man and he was mine, your mate cant have a very good brother if he is likely to pull out, cant ever imagine me or my brother even thinking of that. plus if one of us had tried it my dad would have shouted at us

a-j think its cos him and his bro have been through a lot together lately
kirst- na not cuth although i am expecting that one to come shortly his wedding is in october i think?? its big boab this time! its on the 29th of august so iv got ageeeeees left to think of a speech .... at least this time i wont be vetted on it before hand like rinks done, any ideas

thats the easy bit believe it or not, once you have the speech done and your saying it out loud in front of everyone just add or takeaway bits off the cuff depending on how the reaction to the people there is, hard bit is the speech when you think of things yous done and then go bugger cant use that that or that as its all to rude or illegal!! i have a bad memory and only seem to remember those kinda things

weird update- im now def doing the best mans speech as he reckons his bro wont cope but his brother is best man in all other respects
