Thinking of getting an Iphone 3gs
TBH there arnt any amazing contracts for it lets be honest
If I got one it would be the £35.00 a month which gives you iirc 500 texts and 600 mins..
But they still make you pay for the phone which is £180 for the 16gb and £270 for the 32gb!
Now I dont mind paying it and can certainly afford the monthly payments no problem but what I was wondering..... from peoples expereince will there be any better contracts coming out in the near future which would be worth waiting for?
Looking to buy in the next month really.

I'm just looking into this too.. I Think I'm just going to buy the phone on pay as you go and stick an o2 simplicity sim in it..
30 day rolling contract.
1200 texts
600 mins
unlimited web
£20 a month.
Means your not tied down to a contract.

What does a 30 day rolling contract mean?
And also how much are they to buy outright again? would it work out cheaper as I worked it out after like either 18 months or 24 months the total was about £900

16GB 3GS on a 24month contract (600mins/500txts) = £34.26 p/m (x 24) + £87.11 for the phone = £909.11
16GB 3GS on Simplicity 600mins/1200txts + Unlimited Web Bolt-on (over 24months) = £19.58 (x24) + £440.40 for the phone = £910.32
So you spend another quid or so for another 700txts and ability to cancel the simplicity contract every month (30 day rolling) but you loose out on visual voicemail.
Edit - See if you can pick up the 3GS cheaper off ebay, have seen a few go for around £350.

Basically it means that it works like a contract in that you'll pay it monthly and get a certain allowance etc, but you can cancel whenever you want with 30 days notice and no charge as far as I'm aware.

I use simplicity. Costs £20 a month for 600 mins and 1200 texts. Unlimited We bolt on is free.
Bought the phone outright on P&G. No contract tie-in.
Works out cheaper over 18 months than an iPhone Tarrif with Unlimited Text bolt on.
This is the best way to do it!

You can currently get £100 cashback through Quidco if you sign up to a 12 month simplicity contract!

And don't forget you get 800 minutes, 1600 texts and unlimited web as well. So in total with QuidCo;
16GB 3GS on Simplicity 800mins/1600txts + Unlimited Web Bolt-on (over 24months) + QuidCo = £19.58 (x24) + £440.40 for the phone - £100 QuidCo = £810.32
Or if you've never had a QuidCo account before they'll deduct £5 from your first balance request, so you'll end up with £815.32 rather than £909.11 (see Dom's post).
EDIT: Also don't forget that o2 might offer a cheaper Simplicity deal 12 months down the line, or even give you a good deal when you come to renew (I was offered £150 credit instead of taking out a phone without any haggling, if I took out an 18 month contract, I'm sure you could get this on a 12 month contract with a bit of haggling too). Or you could take out a contract with an expensive phone and flog it, making the overall contract a bit cheaper.

Oh yeah, £815.32, also edited to include the extra minutes and texts you'll get with the 12-month simplicity deal.
Oh, if you have a mate that works for o2 you'll get a 25% discount on the phone and the contract.
If you have a family member with them you can also take out a contract via them and receive a 20% discount.

£19.58 x 12 = £234.96 + iphone new(£440.40) = £675.36 - £95 = £580.36, for 12months.
If it was 24 months then it'd be £815.39
Would be interesting if you could take that £100 cash back offer out twice, although it's probably only for a limited period.
edit - like i say, you can save nearly £100 buying a 3GS a few months old from ebay.
