interesting though. that first picture of the soldier walking through it one month after it happened, surely the radiation would've still been there?

I read a story recently that it wasn't a B29 that dropped Little Boy but a Lancaster.

They weren't really aware of the radiation issues until after these bombs were dropped.

I think i heard/read somewhere that apparently the pilots were not aware of what they were dropping, the pilots were also trained in how to arm it because they had to do it whilst in flight, apparently because the plain that drop the bomb had a history of blowing up on take off and they couldnt risk that

The planes were so high/cold when they were arming the bomb their hands were blistered to fuck and bleeding everywhere, cool stuff.

Heard any of this Ollie?

You post some crap, but thats an excellent read up.

OJC, would a Lancaster take the weight? Thats why the B29's took them as it was the largest aircraft they had to take the take off weight and get away (with highest flying rate)?

Can't see a Lanc making the trip over, to then fly to Japan. It would be documented, and most documents are now freed up from secrets act?

You still haven't said thank you Will, for that facebook help guide i posted in your thread the other day. I find that quite rude tbh.
