You have to draw one side and then use the Push/Pull tool and pull it out then join the lines up basically. Sketchup is quite a buggy program imo and takes some getting used to so they never look amazing, but then it's not a huge expensive modelling package, it's free software so you can't really complain that it's not up to the standards of a several hundred pound program.
