Anyone else think he milked the interest from Man City in order to get yet even more money?

Kinda makes me sick when these players come out with shit like "i'm jast chewsea frew and frew loike"...and then go and do this to their club.

Yup.

I cant see whay any grown man cant sort a contract out on his own without having some cunt of a bloke trying to make a quick few £££ by touting you around to other clubs.

Also, if you earn £130k per week, what can you possibly need an extra £20k a for Not like you'd ever have to save up for long to buy something is it.

Mile Newell never had an agent, he did alright out of it too.

Youngsters maybe need guidance, but even then I'd entrust my Dad tbh, not some scumbag slimeball agent.

TBH, agents are basically like any other advisor out there, be it financial, law, etc. They know the sneaky things clubs will try and put in contracts and they know more of what you can demand in yours to make it the best for you. You dont go into buying a house without special advice, you wouldnt go into a big job (Im not talking your £20k a year stuff) without someone looking over the contract they are offering you, so I dont see why players shouldnt have agents.

Plus at the end of the day they do a lot more than sort your contract every 4yrs or so, they'll sort sponsorship, and generally help manage your money through their other advisors.

So why are they percieved as cunts then? By 90% of the footballing community?

Because they are an easy scapegoat.

They are the fan's hero, so if a player gets a big new deal, or moves to a new club, its nice and easy for them to blame the agent and say its all their fault.

When in reality Terry could of very easily of said just add 4 more years to my current contract and all is fine.

If a player is offered a big pay increase by his club then fair enough, I know people say footballers earn too much money, which they do. Theres a lot of money in football though and 100k a week isn't a lot in footballing terms, in fact its about the average.

Its when players like Terry etc try to gather interest from other clubs in order to get a big pay rise that annoys me.

Gerrard, Giggs, Rooney etc are amongst the best and are given considerable pay rises accordingly. You don't see them courting other teams and holding out for a better deal.

Why not get a lawyer to check over the contract instead of an agent?

A lawyer will check over it, as they'll know the specific legal terms in it all, but will the be the best to advise on the footballing/commercial/sponsorship matters in it though?

Do you think there are any genuine honest footy agents out there???

I've met Sky Andrew loads of times and he seems a decent chap, but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

I would imagine you get specialist lawyers who would know the ins and outs.

I'd be very surprised if it's not a lawyer checking it out anyway.

I don't know much about it tbh, was just a thought.

Yeah a lawyer def will check over it, they'll write it tbh!!

A lawyer wont be able to source/arrange sponsorship deals and all the other stuff agents do though before the lawyers get involved.

From BBS Transfer page, what goes into a players contract...'Well, it's a veritable feast of clauses, including some or all of the following: salary, signing on fee, length of term, goal and appearance bonuses, promotion bonuses, demotion pay-cuts, a relocation package, image rights, a sell-on percentage, a deal extension option - and that's before you get into the world of shirt number guarantees, required community service and press/club interviews, translators, and a ban from 'dangerous' past-time activities such as skiing, motorcycling and horse riding.'
