How long would it take to burn a DVD, drive is brand new, disc's are 16x verbatian. trying to burn a movie. taking for ages.

I used to use Nero and it took about 12-13 mins to burn a DVD.

hmm using nero too, had been going a few hours, then the estimated time went up to 88 mins :S

Defo something wrong there then. My drive is 5 years old too.

i think mines is around 40mins on normal priority. setting it to high priority takes less time but makes your pc slow right down.

what is the original file? when i burn dvds from avi's it takes around that kind of time as converts the file etc

The downloaded file is a AVI @ 700mb. but nero wouldnt burn that directly so had to convert that to DVD files (vob etc)

If it's converting it to a dvd it'll take hours.

already been converted from avi to dvd. im trying to burn the dvd files

Only thing that can cause it to take longer is the speed it's burning at.

What speed have you set it at, what speed are the dvd's rated to?

i dont know what its set to, default i guess. there dvd's are 16x

40 mins sounds like 1x or 2x, there should be an option before you click burn, should also say while it's burning.

Ahhh... you should've said that before. My PC takes around 2 hours to encode from avi to vob files. Depends on how powerful ya PC is when it comes to the encoding process.

@16x SHOULD BE LOOKING AT 7/8 MINS IF THEY ARE ALREADY IN VOB'S
