I was trying to put a new butane tank thingy on the camping stove, didn't really have a clue how your supposed to do it, clipped one side in and it pierced the tank (the bit thats supposed to), but as it wasn't clipped in fully yet, it started spraying everywhere.

So I got the stove bit off, then it sprayed butane everywhere in my garage, managed to point most of it down the drain on the drive.

Any precautions I should take?

Toss a match in there to clear the excess, should be fine then.

Was going to turn the lights on but thought better of it (some flats round the corner blew up a few years ago when there was a gas leak and someone turned the lights on!). Had the door open for 5mins of so but still smells of it

Will be fine as gas under pressure turns to liquid, so all that butane will now be gas, just let the gas come out the garage.

The smell will hang around for ages as its just an agent they add to the gas but the gas its self will have evapourated pretty quickly.
