Stargate Universe Summary
The second live-action series to spin-off of the hit science fiction series Stargate SG-1 was green-lighted a day after the announcement that Stargate Atlantis will be canceled after it's fifth season run. Stargate Universe will premiere with a two- hour movie in 2009 and land in a regular time slot this fall.
After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by he Ancients at the height of their civilisation as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.
What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never ending mission, as the Stargate Universe crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, and they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny.
The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, thus fulfilling the Destiny's original mission. Challenges will arise though as the ship comes into range of Stargates placed centuries ahead of the Destiny and the crew is unable to control the ship's navigational schedule. If someone is left behind, there is no way to go back for them, adding to the drama of encountering new races, enemies and adventures.

Wooooooooooooooo new Stargate series. 15+ years now, can't be that bad a franchise, Sky 1 loves it, so must be popular really. Lots of hiddn sci-fi geeks out there really methinks, but not cool to admit it

Very much what I was thinking. Can't wait!
Have you seen the 2 SG1 films after the season ended?
I've hear there is meant to be an Atlantis film too.

I checked out the preview.
Little disapointed, more Star Trek than Stargate.
Still, no doubt will still watch it, give it a chance.

I must admit after watching the preview and doing a little reading on the show I can see the similarities to Voyager however it looks to be a little darker in the way they remade Battlestar Galactica which was probably the best piece of Sci Fi TV in the last 10 years! Fingers crossed the dont mess it up!
