If you wanted to do it in your head (as opposed to a calculator)

Work out 10% of Ł212.75 by moving the decimal point left one place giving Ł21.275
then divide this figue by two to give you 5%; so Ł10.6375 and then add the two together, Ł31.9125

Easy way of doing it in your head is 10% = 21.275, so 5% = half of that = 10.63 or something. Add the two together and bing bosh bang you're sorted.

An easy was to do it is to work out 10% by moving the decimal place one unit to the left, then once....ah wait.
