I have a cannon D-SLR its a little bit of an old one Cannon Eos 350D. Its my girlfriends and I use it now and again. The plan is to buy a 450D or 50D (mainly for her) in the near future.

It has the stand lense on it at present but we want to play around with different lenses on this now. If we buy any can we use them latter on with the 450D or 50D?

Also can anyone recomend some cool, different types of lenses and filters to try out?

Cheers

Yes you can still use your lenses if you get a 450D or a 50D the are the same mounts.
If you get a 5D mk2 or something more pricy then you would only ba anle to use AF not AF-S lenses

The 350, 450 and 50D will all take EF-S lenses so will work fine.

As said, if you have a full-frame body like a 5D, 5D Mk2 or a 1Ds you can only use EF lenses.

If you have the choice of the 2 it'd be worth going for the 50D as its more of a step up than the 450D. I'm a noob too but the types of lenses and filters needed depend on what you're shooting. For instance i'm doing mostly internal and external property shots so am going to be using a 10-20mm lens mostly as its a wider lens to the standard 18-55.
