...has just won this on e-bay.
Baring in mind we both have very little mechanical knowledge and no fuck all about kit cars.
We now have to some how get it home, proberly need to hire a trailor of some sort for the 400mile round trip. Dont no if it runs, what condition its in or anything!
Dont no if he got a good buy or not - By the looks of the pics I doubt it.

Ste will know more about this but ensure you have enough paperwork for the parts and history of everything on the car, you'll need it to present for the IVA test.
If its an old kit thats been in the making for a while you may also find that it was made with the SVA in mind, which has now been replaced by the (more difficult) IVA.
And the carbs look like scrap!

Yeh, it does look a mess. Viewing it as a project/learning curve for us both.
Yeh, posted this hoping Ste will soon see it.

Looks an interesting project.
Don't let a little surface rust put you off!
Make sure that you get from the seller the original purchase invoice and if you are keeping that engine, proof of it's age.
It will be the paperwork that stumps you more than anything.
My advice is to get a copy of the IVA manual from VOSA and follow the requirements in it. As Ian said, the rules have changed and you don't want to get it all built only to find you need to rip it all apart again to fit a reverse light or something.
I'm no ford expert but that engine looks liek a duratec. If it is a post 1992 engine you will never et it through the emmissions with carbs. I'd fit a cheap 1600 pinto for the IVA then rip it out and swap for a more modern engine after.
Don't believe the 95% finished either
It may have 95% of the panels on but the last 5% is more like 80% of the workload and manhours.
On the whole, you have a nice base for a great car there. the Indy is a good car and you got it at a decent price too.
Have fun, and take loads of photos of everything as you will need to prove it was amatuer built. also get all his build photos as you will need proof he was too.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

its a post 92 engine the zetec engines started comming out in 95iirc
as ste said dont let a little surface rust put you off, loks a very very easy job to take the engine out, and treat any rust and spray it...
carbs are easy enough to dismantle and fix any niggeling problems and a 1.6 or 1.8 or 2.0 zetec lump is a peace of piss to work on.. only thing you will ned to get (special tool wise is the correct thickness bar for locking the cams as a bar slots into the back of the camshafts locking them into position..
they are reiable and quite tunable to
i wouldnt mind getting a kit car one day in the same state yours is in.. gives you something to do and when you have finnished it you have a sence of pride

At last, some positive comments!
I think paper work will be the problem. What would happen if we cant get the sufficent paperwork?
We are viewing it as a project, learing curve so it isnt all bad I guess.
Trying to sort out some sort of trailer hire atm.
Thanks for info so far!
I will get lots of pics and post up in the project build section.

MK Indy.
Tbh wouldn't touch one with a barge pole.
However for a project it will be good to learn some new skills.
