Have you thought about London? Can get some cheap hotels and there are endless list of things to do during the day and night.

Keep an eye out on http://www.hotukdeals.com/travel/deals/hot Matt.
I managed to take Laura to a 4 star hotel in Scotland earlier in the year for £10 a night

I'd probably reccommend somewhere in Scotland in the the middle of nowhere although that won't give you much nightlife. As I assume you're taking a lady though more time to spend in bed

I liked Nottingham. Went to Matlock for the day, which isn't too far.

We were staying just round the corner from the castle. Can't remember the hotel mind. I enjoyed my time up there, night out was good too.

I was going to suggest the Peak District.

Night life might not be as good, but a nice country pub is mighty inviting at times.

Plus endless chillaxing during the day. Get a cheap B&B or something too
