I bought my last TV about 3-4yrs ago, a 32" LG LCD.
Back in the days when a 32" was about £1200
I got a pretty pricy ALPHASON stand as well :-
http://www.standanddeliver.com/acatalog/Alphason_AG68_2-S.html
Think it was 400-500ish back then.
Now in the new pad I want an additional TV in the bedroom.
I need help to decide is what to get.
Options :-
1. Keep the current 32" & stand downstairs, buy an LED TV for bedroom....possibly another 32" or smaller. I like the lED ones, they dont stick out much at all and you just hang them on the wall like a photo frame!!
2. Get a 50" or so downstairs on the current stand and put the 32" LG in the bedroom on the wall. (might protrude out a bit much!!).
3. Sell the current LCD & stand (unsure of value?) and buy a 50" LCD/Plasma with new ALPHASON stand http://www.standanddeliver.com/acatalog/Alphason_Iconn_ST480-120_green.html to match Jades living room accessories & a small LED TV for the bedroom?
Obviously theres a cost difference in these options................Any idea's?

Depends on size of room really, our bedroom isnt big enough for a 32", the 32 fits our lounge perfect. I am looking for a 22 / 26 for the bedroom, but it wont be hanging on the wall cos we are rented.
I wouldnt bother selling a TV nowadays, just use it until it breaks then replace it, it just isnt worth it because you can buy your old telly for £300 now so imagine how much a 4 year old second hand one would be worth, £100?

Im in the middle of looking at a new tv for the new house, I currently have a 37" that i will put in the bedroom and want a new one for the lounge.
Been reading alot of reviews on AV Forums and this TV comes highly recomended at is at a good price at the mo, its very thin, Much thinner than my current sharp 37"

Does look good that nismole!!
I dunno
I think the current 32" will stick out too far on the bedroom wall, as you'll have to walk past it to get to the En-Suite, round the bed etc.
Downstairs i'd like something bigger than a 32".
:sigh:

On my 37" i have a dekomount bracket its 1cm thick. and works a treat and is the cheapest bracket out there
http://www.dekomount.co.uk
Use that to mount the 32" in the bedroom, then get a 42"+ in the lounge

Definitely go for an led tv not only looks better but the picture is incredible, I have an led screen on my macbook pro and the whites are bright, blacks really dark and colours really really bright. Id say a bigger difference than the jump to hd for me.

You do realise than an "LED" flat screen is just an LCD display with an LED backlight and that they don't actually use leds for the pixels?
But yes, the picture is usually a little better in the colours and the image tends to be evenly lit.
I'd go with getting a new telly for the living room. Also Agree with Nismo, the LG 42LH3000 does seem to a popular display (and i've been looking at it for a while) and it's relatively cheap (can be had for around £520, although keep an eye out as people have had them for well under £500 quid), plus you can activate the usb port to play DIVX/AVI/MKV(HD)/MP3s from portable drives etc Although there seems to be the issue with the internal speaker amp using the same power rails as the backlight invertors and causing an audible "hissing" noise.
If you have money to burn though, a Pioneer Kuro is about the best display on the market

just to confirm i work for LG amd the new LH3000 is a good set, bear in mind its bottom of the range in that group though, new things to look out for are freesat etc. I would not be looking at an LED tv right now as the prices are sky high, wait until after xmas and they will drop.

Ive seen it for £520 on Pixmania but id rather pay the extra 29quid and get it from comet

You know if there any solutions to the speakers "hissing" issue on the LH3000? Have heard that it's a design fault with the speakers amp getting power from the same rail as the backlight (a few people have changed the speakers amp power rail and said it fixed the problem), and although LG reconise the issue (you'll happily get the set replaced/repaired under warranty), they are now saying the new 3.40 firmware will fix the issue (a little hard to believe if it's a hardware issue).
Nismo - Walk into your local branch of Richer Sounds and get them to price match it (usually it isn't a problem). I know a few people have managed to get them to price match some site that had it for £450 (was a special offer), which isn't too shabby

believe it or not the firmware fix has rectified it, its something to do with outputting the sound at different levels and rectifying the problem, however JUST like the older range it will more then like require a physical speaker change. I will find out for 100% tomorrow and let you know.

Cheapest is pixmania at £529, although you can get it for £513 if you order from pixmania and use quidco (3% cash back). So you might be able to price match to £529 with richer sounds.
If you still want to order it from currys/comets (£549 and £549.99) then order it using quidco as you can get 3% cash back, so £532 or so.
Can get it on eBay for £480 new though, a bit dodge but still....
Alternatively, wait til the xmas sales as you should be able to get a decent deal.

Fitted an LG 42PQ6000 for a customer today, was really surprised with it to be fair.
Picture quality was superb, handled motion very well. Sat nice on the wall too - nice a slim with recessed connections and good fixing layout for the wall bracket.
Looked real sleek aswell, there is no bezel on the TV that sticks out, just a flat piece of glass/plastic over the front.
Well impressed for under £500.
Wasnt too impressed with a samsung LED TV i saw the other day though, its a bit of a con to be honest as true LED tvs are backlit from behind, where as these are lit from the sides just using LED lights. Left the centre of the screen looking quite dull.

Hi Dom, just to confirm the issue is apparent on the LH3000 and some LH4000 models, there is a firmware upgrade to rectify this, its 20mb and is done via USB on the set, early stages show the update is working to fix the hissing/crackling problems on the tv's
