If i get 205/40/17 will i need to do any arch work or would they go straight on?

Straight on mate, no problems assuming you get a reasonable offset (et45-49 ideally)

i have a m8 who got a new corsa c , 4get 17s just cut a few bolts down on ur arches and 18s wiv 60mm drop and ur laffin. and thats god honest truth.
