Con - On your feet for 8 hour shifts.
Pro - Having random conversations at the bar
Pro - Serving fitties
Con - Knowing said fitties won't date the barman

I did 4 years with Wetherspoons before joining the police and to be honest loved it! I got to supervisor and manager stage, but still did full shifts on the bar/floor. It can be long days, 12+ hours, but it is a laugh especially with a good team and good regulars.
I was coming out with approx £200 per week, which thinking back now I don't know how I survived on it, but for what it is, its not a wage, think I was on just over £6 per hour.
You will be on your feet a lot and dealing with drunk obnoxious/violent people, but to be honest I enjoyed that! As long as you can deal with people who refuse to work, coming in at 9am to spend their dole money, and abusing you saying how they pay your wages etc, then you'll be fine!

It's hot. You get paid fuck all and you stand up for a long time. Speaking to drunk people isn't great and you're not going to pull on the wrong side of the bar.
One of the better jobs I've had though.

I dont work in a bar as such, but from time to time get asked to jump behind for a few hours if they are light or its busy.
As said, if your with decent staff it can be a brilliant job

The pay was shite when I worked as a barman but that was years ago. I didn't really enjoy it much although Fri/Sat glass collecting was alot of fun.

Agree with that tbh. If you're with good staff then it's a laugh, is hard work though, and depends what kind of bar/club, if it's a popular one you'll be knackered at the end of your shift. I did 3 years at the scream pub in Derby, was great at times, glad to be out of there now i've grown up a bit tho

Yeah, was usually 500 odd in the club on a Fri/Sat night, and if there was a big football match, (i did euro 2004 and wc2006) had pub and club open, over 1,000 people in there at once. And once it was a tiny bit cold outside the manager shoved the heating on full, great for customers, but awful for anyone working!
Awesome atmosphere for the football though, I remember us getting knocked out and seeing some guy crying at the bar in front of me. Good times

I work in a Nightclub.
Pros:
Loads of young women wearing very little clothes
Tips
Meeting new people all the time
I find it an exciting and interesting business, I like the razmatazz, the music etc. Much prefer it to being stuck in the 9-5 grind.
Cons:
Crap money
Crap hours
dealing with drunken abuse
Always too hot
Always too loud
If you don't wear earplugs you will go deaf after a while
As a barman you get fuck all respect off customers, they talk to you like they wouldn't dare talk to a bloke serving them in tescos or wherever
All in all I do still enjoy it despite the massive amount of shite that goes with the job.

I'd look for a steady bar. I worked in a bar/restaurant in a leisure centre was a piece of piss. DOwn side was it opens for away fans as its really close to oakwell. Hated the non-stop busy shifts but that was dealing with wannabe football hooligans and faggots from down South wanting lemonade in their pints (true story).

I work in a pub for now, but in the kitchen, the bar staff on busy nights are quite busy but its not bad really, still enough time to have a laugh etc.

Pubs are depressing tho. It's just unemployed blokes and old geezers sat around. Working in a pub is more of a'job' job if you know what I mean, there's no specialness to it. You might as well work in McDonalds or whatever.

I love to hate my work. I love the regualar people and the people you get to know, I love the banter and I love who I work with... I dont love my long hours,my not so great pay, and the amount of running around I do.
