Mainly graphics/video processing, no peripherals, tower only.

Any suggestions? I know its not much moolah but i've seen a fair bit about for fairly good prices,

Ben.

Is building one not an option - if you've already got an old tower and some components then could pick up some decent spec components for £400 to get it built up.

To be honest, I could probably do it myself but with this spec i'd rather let someone else do it for me, at least someone else could benchmark it all and spot things that I might not spot.

tbh for £400 you'll not be getting anyone doing any sort of tweeking on it for you, it'll be components thrown in to a case and sold to you.

Just get a decent GPU and CPU

That first one posted the CPU is too slow and this will cause a bottle neck, I would be looking for 3ghz+ to really get the most out of the GPU.

could do something like
Asrock motherboard N68-S £35
Amd 7850 black 2.8 OC 3.2ghz £50
Ati 4890 - £120

£205 + what ever ram you wanted.

Seems a lot of games run better on dual and dont fully support quad yet.

Well, all i know is that amd clock speeds are the same as intel but quoted higher because they run hot / overclocked as standard is this true?

There is a massive difference between amd and intel prices, I think they do good value for money personally and that cpu with a decent gpu will be more then good enough for gaming.

I think that's pretty good for a fully working tower, 4850 is about £100 and its a good card.

I'm going to be using it for graphic/video editing on a fairly large scale.

TBH I wouldnt buy an AMD system just for the fact upgrading in the future will be a pain as Intel look like they will rule for a long while to come.

its so easy to build up your own PC you should really do it yourself im sure some people here can give you guidance if you let us know what you already have e.g. case with decent power supply and what your requirements are

this way you pick quality components rather then tat

Probably cheap memory, opical drive and most of all a cheap PSU.

Not too sure on the motherboard but I think AsRock are a budget brand too. Only thing decent is the CPU and GPU.
