Excellent, is the telescope an electronic one that tracks with the earth, the pictures you can get are unbelievable.
Watch out for the americans though, they might censor any pictures of aliens.

yes mate you can get it to track planets, the moon, star constellations etc. i think we are in for some poor weather though so it may be a while before i can get the shots i want. i have a week off next week so i might stay up one night with 8 tins and see what i can see.

cool link Matt. i don't know if i will be able to achieve anything like that with my gear. i'll have to check the specs of my telescope and compare them with what that guy has. i reckon the long exposure shots should be do-able because the scope is motor driven so it can track objects. the only thing that concerns me is the extra weight the camera will add. i don't want to overload the motors and burn them out.

Took that with my digicam through the eyepiece of a telescope on holiday in egypt 
(It was an insanely expensive telescope though, think it was 350* magnification or something, 30cm mirror, GPS controlled, electronically moved etc...)
Haven't looked at the links, but from what you just said Carl, can't you get something that connects through USB from the camera into the telescope, so you don't attach the camera to it, just connect a wire to it?

i've not studied that link matt posted yet but that seems like the general gist of it yes. i'll see what results i get with the gear i have first before i take it any further.
