My laptop suddenly stopped working so i sent it to hp service center, they contacted me saying there was water ingress and that it would cost 261 quid to be repaired!!!!!
it wont even start up so what are my options will a local repair place be able to sort it out for a better price? or shall i chuck it and get a new one?
any advice appreciated

Come on admit it, your laptop was looking a bit dirty so you gave it a bath didn't you?
What are they saying the £261 is for?
I personally would not pay that as you can get a brand new laptop for £300. What model/spec is it? I may buy it off you if you want to get rid of it.
