Ok, Here's the deal:

Mr X is out of work but has some savings. He is making monthly payments to pay back a loan and for car insurance.
He's seen a car he likes and thinks that if he can sell his car and pay back loan and insurance in full and then get a finance deal on car he likes that he will then be paying out LESS per month therefore saving money.

Would it be possible for him to get finance if he has no job even though he can afford to pay it back?

If you could afford to pay it back without working....just pay it off in one go....I assume you are using savings rather than drug money, pimp money etc .......Dont think Mr X will get finance though

You will need a steady income, if you can prove you have this then give it a go, if not then i would have thought no would be your answer.

No harm in trying though.

I've got a pretty sh1tty credit history but I still manage to get car finance.

unless you are employed no credit agency will give you finance, same with a loan. They want a guarentee that the money is going to be paid back, and although you know you have savings, they dont, and wont be able to gain access to that from your bank, so the best thing is pay off the car you got, and then sell it, or trade it in after.
