Wasnt at Derby store this morning because im working at Loughborough store, but got couple of texts and MMS'...

Somewhere between Sunday closing and finding it this morning someone robbed Wickes.

Stole some 8.5k work of stock. Mainly copper tube (15/22/28mm 2/3m lengths).
The state of our plumbing section this morning -

And how did they get in this time....?
Well, they cut the metal sheeting off the rear wall and smashed through the breeze blocks

In such a big building it's probably not that practical to have motion sensors everywhere, I'd hazard a guess it would just be the doors that would be alarmed. Breaking a hole through the wall is a fairly cheeky thing to do though

Thats the thing, it was so planned! surely.
They picked the bit of the wall that was directly behind the plumbing isle. In an area where there was no camera coverage and no PIR alarm coverage.....something the security walk round a couple of weeks ago picked up on in their report Gutted.

No, just the hole in the wall, out the back of the store and either onto the canal (cant get a car on there though) or right down the side towards the main road/car park (bit obvoius?)

Fucking takes a mission of effort to stock the shelf, let alone empty the badger and cart it all out the building

Packs of 10, 3m lengths of 28mm copper pipe.

Worth a fair whack.

They are clever round derby you see....or experienced....last time they got some of the banding off the pallets, tied it around the fire escape lever and poked it under the door and outside.

They later then pulled the bit sticking outside and hey presto the door opens

Oh yeah the full length tube packs would've been fairly easy i suppose, just all the little fittings etc, they must've bagged them up. Some good research done, i reckon security will be upped now!

Nope. Again, in an area of no coverage.
They left the door open and band tied up.

I was about to say inside job, a very quiet employee who just goes about his everyday tasks and doesn't really have much to say.

My thoughts exactly Sir Da Silva. Very interesting that this came in a spot that was found to be weak security wise, just weeks earlier.
