Nooo, sugar first. Tea bag in. Water. Stir. Teabag out. Milk in. Done.
My nan always puts milk in first if she makes a pot of tea, but if she makes a cup then milk in last. Strange.

Agree'd BUT milk should go in right at the end.
The whole milk first thing spans from the days of fine china when the boiling hot water from the tea pot (so already brewed) could shatter the delicate china so they used to put a little milk in the cup to help cool the tea as it hit the cup.
But now people put the teabag IN the milk and then add the water so its going to be too cold to brew properly and there for taste like nats piss

Tea bag first. Water. Let it brew. Tea bag out. Milk, stir.
If you put sugar in it doesn't taste of tea anymore

let me clear it up for you all.
if made in a pot, bags in pot then water in.
milk in cup with suagr, then pour pot in.
if made in cup bag, sugar, water, stir, stir, stir, milk, stir.
hobnob, dunk, eat, and repeat.
FACT

I'd go with that too
Would actually make a better cup as your not mixing the bag with the tea....

no but if you put the milk in first and cant get enough flavour/colour out the tea bag its too milky. at least if the milk is put in afterwards you know how much to use

Milk blocks up the pores in the teabag so it won't brew properly.

all depends on whether you're preparing the cup while the kettle is on, if so milk in first is acceptable. if you turn the kettle on and fuck off for abit while it boils it can go in afterwards

I always put tea bag in followed by milk followed by water.
Then just let it brew in the cup for 10 min and then a quick stir and it changes colour perfectly and tastes great.
