Im not sure what they are called.. The ones that came over a few years ago and couldn't fly in cloud cover sky ...
Anyway, I saw 2 of the buggers yesterday..
And another 2 tonight.
WTF they doing here, send the £70million fuckers over to Afghanistan and help our troops dammit!!!!!
Still, epic machines those bad boys. Are they actually like Apaches where both eyes have to do seperate functions in the chopper?

I'd recommend the film Apache then.
Like Top Gun, but not as cool, and with Helicopters. 80's cheese

yea, the UK forces got the 'Longbow' AH-64D. They are basicly the top spec version of the Apache helo's, and the longbow system is the radar that sits atop the rotor mast, and the electronics related to it throughout the aircraft. It just means the aircraft can hover at a range beyond visual distance behind a hill, and put that radar just up over a hill, and from there, guide missles and tactics for both themselves and other aircraft. It detects up to 130 targets, prioritises the 16 most dangerous and transmits this across the battlefield network, whatever the weather, day or night. Really clever system, and hugely effective.
We lost a few to telegraph lines in the early stages of the iraq war because they are able to fly that low and fast, it was about the only thing that was actually able to get them. So they had to set a minimum altitude for pilots, especially at night so as to avoid this.
they are ugly buggers, but massively effective and something that the enemy knows is a kick-ass piece of kit!

Apache Longbows. The reason they are not in Afgan at the moment is there are not enough people to keep them in the air, so they can only take a restricted amount on cabs at one time. The ones over here will be used for training etc.
The pilots do train both eyes to function individualy yes, as they have a monocle over one eye.

I'm really rather surprised that no one has posted a picture of UK Apache.

2 big stars, yet the film never really made it.
Suprising. Still was in the shadow of Top Gun. If it had been 5 years later it would have been a hit.
Sex scene was just as lame as TG though
