Bit over kill imo adge. All you need imo is a good protein shake prior to your workout, followed by a shake with carbs (maltodextrin/dextrose)
Is your current diet in check? what is your current diet?
After all these are supplements to a good diet.

I have 3 different kinds of shake at the moment, the NO Explode before the workout (changing this), a normal protein shake for mornings and after workout, and have just got a casein protein shake to have last thing at night. I have L-Glutimine with the 3 protein shakes (not in the NO Explode).
Obviously have multi-vitamins and the Omega-3 tablets too.

IMHO, get the Whey protein and just eat more.
I also can't see how a non-athlete/bodybuilder would need ever NO Explode-esque stuff either. Sounds like people can't be bothered and would rather pay to get the buzz that gives them the motivation to train...!

What difference does it make, you could be the most motivated person in the world but if their is something that will push you that bit further so you can lift heavier or push that extra 2 reps, why wouldnt you have it?

Anything that aids or spurs you on is welcomed IMO, if it's within your means in terms of ££££ then I'm all for it, try Mammoth 2500, it's ace.

agreed. Not sure why you would have it post workout either? Then again I was years ago since I actually had an interest in creatine and read up about it, might have all changed now.

Just my opinion and I personally don't see the point. I think a lot of people see it as a silver bullet, thats all.

It may be just a placebo, it may not be, a lot of people swear by the likes of NO Explode though for giving them that little extra, and after having used it for a month or so now I do agree.
If it helps me push that little more then Im all up for it, as it doesnt cost the world.

if he's bulking it wont matter. should be on if i remember correctly 2g carb per pound of bodyweight. going by his diet they're complex carbs anyway.
a piece of advice for the diet - the first half hour AFTER workout should be a window of opportunity to cram in as much fast digesting protein as poss along with dextrose to transport it to your muscles quicker. one workout shake isnt really enough. Whatever you do, dont go anywhere near fats at this time

I wasnt necessarily saying it was a bad thing, just a lot of carbs in general.

Would a good post-workout shake include whey protein, l-glutamine and dextrose?

Peri workout nutrition is the most important part of training.
A basic peri workout protocol would look like this:
30min pre w/o: 25g casein, 25g waxy maize
15 min pre w/o 25g vitargo/malto, 25g whey
Throughout training sip 25g casein
immediately after training 25g whey, 25g vitargo/malto
45 mins post workout 25g whey, 25g vitargo/malto.
120 mins post workout have a big meal.
Peri-workout nutrition is the future of getting big quickly, have a protocol like that and you will have no choice but to put size on!

In a nutshell, yes, but i favour Vitargo over dextrose/maltodextrin.
