went to a vauxhall breakers yard yesterday (the one on the Herts/Beds border) and on the way home my mate (chrisa) got flashed by one of the speed cameras in the area. These are different to the ones in herts in that they point at you, from the opposite side of the road
The piss take is..... the speedo read 43mph @ the most and we were in a 40!! Now im no expert but surely a set of 17"s dont put the speedo out that much??? And even if it did i thought the cameras were callibrated to +10% ?????
It also seems fookin dangerous cos it flashes in yer face!!!!!
Anyone know bout these things? Wot can we do to save him gettin a ticket?? Could we do sum DIY on the camera & chop it up ??

You could go down and set the thing on fire but you would be in shit.
Best thing is to hope it was out of film, you can always fight it for ages and ask to see calibration certificates and such like but in the end it would be cheaper to pay up.

its true tho!
i do ponder the idea!
just have a head on collision claim that i was daized by the bright lights and got disoriented, turned the wheel!
just to teach them a lesson!!
he'd have to have a nice car tho! wont do it if its a rust bucket!

Film?? in the new camera's? Soz, but i'm afraid it aint like that simple any more. All of the recent cameras (after 1999) have a special kind of ADSL line run to them, through which ur pic is sent back to the processin unit within seconds. I think its bout 3 hours between being flashed, and ur fine being written up posted (during a weekday 9-5 obviously).
How i no this? Dad's a BT planner, who has to plan all the fone lines to these new cameras (especially those new forward facing ones in Herts, Beds and Greater London). And had to find out the full ins and outs before he started planning.
Good luck tho mate.
And to the rest of ya - be careful! lol
