I don't think there is a defining yes or no to a criminal record. Depends entirely on the circumstances. Would probably have to go in and find oot!

I wasnt actually being a dick. People on here can tell you what they think but IMO if you explain to them the situation I would imagine they are going to give you the best possible advice.
Jeeezzz.

Criminal Record
Having a criminal record does not necessarily prevent you from joining the UK Military. When joining you must provide details of any civil convictions you have which are considered to be ‘unspent’ under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Whilst you are entitled to withhold details about ‘spent’ convictions for most roles, you will need to declare them if you are applying for the Army Medical Services, an administrator with the Adjutant General’s Corps or other designated sensitive employments. For example, having a criminal record could disbar you from working with children, vulnerable adults or sensitive information.
The Armed Forces ask you to be honest about your past as any undisclosed convictions may make you liable to prosecution and past convictions may not bar you from joining.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Thats my point. He said its probably a no and you've just taken it as your answer. I doubt he knows fully. Give them a call, it's in your best interest if its what you want to get into.

What did you get for the GBH? Quite a serious assault charge.

Could have been a section 20 to be fair, section 18 is one down from attempted murder! (wounding with intent)

Under CRB checks, full disclosure would show GBH.
Section 20/18 is not applicable.

abh is a lesser charge when you've wounded someone with a little slap, typical saturday night pub brawel sort of thing, gbh is where you've properly given someone a good hiding

Three levels;
Assault - Simply verbal - you can be locked up if proven you have told someone to "do one" for want of a better expression, and someone complains.
ABH - Actual Bodily harm, which would includes broken skin stained during an assault.
GBH - Broken bones, broken teeth, sustained during an assualt.
Then higher up GBH with intent, for instance leaving your home address with a knife and using it during an assault.
It is more complex, but that is the gist of it.
All falls under the Offences agaist the person act of 1861.

How do they define between the two? as I was getting charged for GBH but had it dropped to ABH and walked away with a final warning.
Edit: too late, thanks teddy.
