When was the last time you rebooted / switched your work machine off?
I just hibernate my work laptop each day and open it up the next day to continue working exactly where i left off...
Just checked my up time (since the last reboot / shut down)... 42 days
Last shut down was 14th of October

once a weekish, hate leaving it any longer because when i do eventually come to rebooting the machine it will pull down masses of updates before login which take AGES!

Switch it on every morning, turn it off every evening.
Sometimes have to turn it off and on around about lunchtime as it just gets so slow when going between drawings in AutoCAD. Its got a shit processor.

IBM heap of shit in work can go a couple of days, I normally then end up resetting it because it's going so bloody slow. The other computer that shows all the train movements is forever running... rarely gets shut down and the one that controls the announcements gets shut down (or rather turned off at the socket) every night lol.

Windows 7 scews up EVERYTIME i change the IP from DHCP to manual.. and requires a reboot. Right pain in the arse yesterday when i were installing APs in a hotel. Ubuntu will be going on as a dual boot next week!!

I turn mine off every day.. Too important to me to risk cooking it by leaving it on.

I shelved all my code on the source control each night anyway... so doesn't matter. All customer data is stored off my laptop too.
I won't lose anything if my laptop dies... but I don't leave it on, I just hibernate... technically not a shut down, but near enough.

All code is backed up but its all of the other shit that you dont backup every day and the amount of agro involved in a re-prep that makes me so paranoid.
It takes me about 2 days to re-prep my work machine
