Look at the RS owners club or on Pasion Ford. Also buy one that has been restored as they all rust like nothing else on this planet. For your budget you should easily get a mint restored one.

If I had one I would look into a ZVH conversion on management.

If you want to convert it to EFi there is a company called Oddkidd creations who will be able to help you. They are located in Upminister in Essex.

It was all done before I bought it, I just had an expensive to MSD which was mainly labour just to get it running right. It's a tallblock 1900cvh, stage 2, hybrid stuff, etc. I haven't had any trouble with it really. It also had restoration work 2 years ago, but needs tidying again, rust is a killer as Fad said, also some parts are getting silly priced too, £400 seems to be the going rate for a new genuine header tank

Nah it isn't, you could always go the zetec turbo route unless you want to keep it factory looking

You can extract decent power from a 1.6 with the original fuel injection.

we do EFI conversions day in day out, alot of people still use cossie management, but we just find that limits who can map it, and its costly, you can get the same results, easier and cheaper on other management.

drive in drive out EFI conversion is £1800 from us, bear in mind that includes modding the inlet, injectors, new loom, ecu all fitted and mapped.

going efi is one of the best things you can do on them really.

passion ford is a good place to look for them as fad said. some nice examples out for the money you want to spend.

the 1.6 cvh is a great engine, or we do a 1.9 cvh conversion which retains the 1.6 block rather than the american tall block. currently have 360bhp from a 1.6cvh running reliably, also have 300bhp with low boost from ex performance ford nicks s2, we have done loads of these now so if you need advise then please dont hesitate to ask.
