Well i thought it was about time that id start my own project thread considering ive had my new car 4 quite a while now. Havent been able 2 use it though cos it was burning oil really badly n was out of MOT
Well to start off with, my names Stephen n im 19. Working as a apprentice mechanic n recently just brought this little corsa
Its a corsa b 1.6l V reg, mint condition (apart from a small dent on the bonnet) n completly standard apart from a rear disc conversion n the rear lights.
I brought the car off my girlfriends bro for only £400 cos the engine was pretty f*cked, so il slowly be rebuilding it
Here it is sitting in my grandads garage.
Ive had the car for about 4 months..
So far ive taken off the head.. n its been going rather slowly since then as im saving up 4 all the new parts. Should have them in 2 weeks time.
Today i took off the exhaust system n remove the sump, so with a bit of luck, il be removing the pistons next week if my boss explains the proper way of doing it. pretty sure its gonna be nice n easy, il just have 2 remember the way i remove things =\
n also got a pic of the car on my speedlines (was just pissing around to see what it would look like )
and also heres a few things il be swapping from my previous corsa and also a few ideas for the future:
Parts being swapped over:
speedlines (done)
50mm springs (done)
depo's (dene)
3" sportex exaust (done)
flat blades (done)
1000w sub n amp (done)
mk1 fiat rear wiper (done)
gsi front bumper (done)
Future plans:
respray speedlines
fit my gm mudflaps (done)
remove door strips (done)
performance exaust and decat
calibre leather seats (done)
color code arches and rear bumper
rear gsi bumper
uprated brakes
stripped rear
rear strut brace
let me know what you think wont be tuning the engine just yet, just wanna get it up and running. and plus, im sure it wil seem fast enough to begin with as im used 2 driving a shity 1.0l corsa =/

Little update..
Finally round 2 removing the pistons. what an easy job
got a few pics of the engine and the car..
Few things il have 2 buy/do before i can put it back together:
Strip the head
replace oil valve stem seals
send head off 4 skimming
fit new piston rings
buy cambelt kit and head gasket kit
new sum gasket n also il have 2 buy the coolant hose underneath the inlet manfold.. i got rather annoyed with the old 1 when removing the head so i ended up cutting the f*cker off! =\

yeah it has a rear disc conversion i thought that 1.6 sports came with rear discs but my boss told me that they dont and they mustve come off an old astra or sumin.
and i didnt actually think the head was 2 bad 2 come off, the only thing i had trouble with was the coolant hoses behind the inlet manifold, which is why i ended cutting them off lol !

i was thinking about selling them 2 get angel eyes, but u dont want them mate lol.. the adjusters are both broken and so are the lenses, it looks like theyve been glued together. you cant really tell once theyre fitted though. it just blinds the person driving in front of u

I hope you changed/changing the water pump, would be a shame to spend all that money and then have to do it again after the pump fails.
Bet you cant wait to get it on the road anyway, will be a big leap from the blue 'un

i didnt lol. it looks pretty new, i inspected it properly n made sure its not gonna leak after the first few miles. Im pretty sure il end up renewing it sooner or later before it fails anway, but right now i just wanna make sure ive done everything properly n see if it actually runs lol !!
n yea i had a quick drive in it before i rebuilt her, n fuk me it flys !! lol.. big diference from a shit 1.0l !

Heres some pics of a few weeks ago
I got most things fitted, a few coolant hoses, secondry air pump, cam pulleys n tensior n rollers, rocker cover, coil leads, sump and exaust:
couple of shots of the back of the car. no springs lol... had 2 take out the standard springs 2 put on my other corsa as its going to my sister
I think the speedlines need a refurb =\ lol
and heres the latest pics, almost there !! just waiting for vauxhall 2 send me the coolant hose i split behind the back of the inlet manifold. its on back order aparently. ive been waiting for 3 weeks now n they stil aint sent it :@:@:@
cambelt on n tensioned up. turned it over a few times n everything seems to be going alright
covers all on
Fitted the original front bumper for the time being because i don't have enough money 2 get the gsi bumper sprayed yet n also fitted depo's, speedlines n 50mm lowering kit. Doesnt look much lower atm cos it hasnt settled
fitted standard rear light, much better
n my old sub will be getting fitted once i clear the boot out
can't do much more to the engine until i get this f*ckin coolant hose from vauxhalls.
What ive got left 2 do / fit:
coolant bottle
battery
hose
inlet manfiold
fan belt
air box
rear shock absorber
rear exaust box
n then it'l be on the road if the bloody thing runs !! lol

Which coolant pipe is it your needing bud? If you want to save some time i have the one with that goes to the heater matrix, one with a slight kink, not the one with the T piece for the TB warmer.
Good progress none the less.

strut brace
rear exaust box
flat blades

Finally got round 2 fixin the car up for mot.
So far ive fitted the shock absorber, connected all lights up, replaced my depo's with standard head lights so it passes mot as the adjusters f*ucked on the depo
fitted new front seatbelts, fitted rear seat properly and also i didnt actually need 2 replace the rear discs because the brake judder must of worn its self off that saved me £60.
Just drove the corsa down 2 the garage for the rest of the work 2 be carried out in the week:
hand brake cables, plug into it 2 c y the EML is on and basically make sure the engines workin alright so it passes on emissions.
Heres a few pics
fitted the flat blades. bit dirty =/
gave it a wash n fitted some MHW's i got off of '12 valver' on here cheers mate !
