CLICKY
I think it is a great idea. Fair play to them for having a go at seeing what the law allows
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

I laughed when i heard the "green" person moaning about these saying "Oh now they want to carry way more stuff, heavier loads, next it will be 40 Tonnes they can carry"
He missed the whole point of the truck in that it can carry physically more but no more weight and due to the extra size causes less wear and tear on the roads and means it costs less to transport the good - all blood "green" things. Muppet

I can see how they make sense for travelling on the motorways on long haul journeys up and down the country purely between depots on the outskirts of cities/towns.
They cant be any good if they have to start entering towns though to get to their drop off points

The amount of times I see lorries struggling to make turns at the length they are at the moment. I can't see it taking off.

good point there is still a weight limit, so quite a lot of trucks weigh more than a challenger tank?

Whats the point of a much longer truck if they can only carry the same weight as a normal one?

Thats all I can think of - when carrying something that is large in size but not in weight so they dont make the limit.
But surely weight is the issue most of the time and not not enough room?
Or are they saying they can carry the max load in each of those trailers?

Because a lot of trucks are full of light products which don't take the truck to the full weight limit. The arguement is they will be able to fit more of these products in one vehicle reducing the need to have more vehicles on the road carrying the same gear.
I think it's a good idea. They would be useful for depot to depot deliveries.

They are only a few foot longer than a normal artic. These super things are about 25 foot longer.
