Put my m5 on the rollers last night, a standard car does around 350bhp at the wheels, i have removed the center silencers with a supersprint x-pipe and done a remap on it did 375bhp at the wheels, equated to 411bhp and 385lbft, pretty happy with that to be fair.

will post graph later

5ltr v8.

to be honest its not massivly loud but sounds good, as standard they are very quiet, they do have a fair few silencers, 4 on the rear, 2 small center ones and 2 cats, has a nice burble to it now tho. was tempted with a full supersprint system but they cost too much and im not sure i want it massivly loud. was going to film it to get the noise but the camera just picks up the rolling road noise and fans unfortunatly.

I bet the standard graph was smooth as hell as well, like all bmws really.
Does the X-pipe remove the cats aswell? They do on the e36.

what are the running costs like on these, they are quite cheap now really, i dont know if i want to go jap or german in a year, so i keep thinking evo 8/9 or something like a m3/m5

£11k+ for a mint low milage one with al lthe toys, running costs, depends hwo does the work on it! tyres for the rear are £200ish for something decent, front discs and pads are £460ish.

fuel is the biggest killer, £85 to fill it, and you can use that up in 200miles if you drive it hard, i tend to get 300miles or there abouts to a tank.

i wouldnt want to get one if i thought it would be a cheap car.

different altogether to an m3 IMO

hmmmm its rather alot really, if you keep them for a while, depreciation and running alone ... lovely cars tho. i supose i will have to evaluate the situation when im seriously considering it. im sure the evo is alot cheaper to run, possibly more fun too....

again the evo and an m5 are two very different cars. i got the m5 as its a decent size, comfy on long distances, quick, ok its no rocket ship but in standard form itll do 186mph, loads of toys.

an evo wouldnt match those criteria. evo running costs arnt that great either really but its only a 2ltr engine now a 5ltr v8, you cant expect them to be good on fuel.
