After fad and gav were discussing finding a cheap dc2 and the fact they're all dogs... this got me thinking about dc2s...

http://www.youtube.com/user/anarky277#p/u/1/S2m9gV-hQfk

This vid has swayed it... the mods are fairly light, but it sounds awesome and looks great on track!

So I'm thinking... Sell my s2000 as it is, or set it back to standard and sell it, then sell the parts.

e.g. S2000 - 2000 reg, 78k on clock... Silver with red leather interior... I reckon I could prob get £6.5k for that standard?

Then I've got coilovers £400 (put standard suspension back on). (or leave suspension on and charge a bit extra for the car?).
Then decat £80 (put standard car back on).
Manifold £100 ish (I bought this for only £149)
J's racing ecu £600
17" ap2 wheels with tyres - £600

So I get £6.5 ish k for the car standard... and then £1500 ish for selling the mods.
That'll leave me with £8k.

buy a dc2 like that for £4k! and have 4k in the bank (Potentially sorting out my current cash flow problems).

Opinions? I know my friends and family will call me a idiot for thinking of doing this... my car is lovely, classy, luxury / grown up... while being fun and fast and something I can take on track - truely the best of all worlds...

BUT! I really fancy a fast FWD car again! (I know in a straight line my s2000 would beat a dc2)

Could I put up with the chav image of having a wing

That S2k is obviously causing you problems money wise, prehaps its time to get shot of it? Is a DC2 the best idea though?

My dads S2K is a 52 plate on around 70k iirc, hes been struggling to sell it for the past few months. As for a DC2, would be interesting if you got one, I really want one just a bit put off by peoples comments. This one looks fairly decent though http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1371888.htm

I would do it, no advantage in the S2000 over a DC2 and you prefer FWD so hurry up and do it.

You can get a much newer lower mileage Clio for around the same price that will go the same speed.

Paul uses his car for the daily commute so he needs something that can cope with a 40 mile round trip everyday. I know not all Clios are bad but I wouldn't take the chance if moneys tight.

I wouldnt even recommend a clio, just comparing them to a teg, they are expensive what they are.

That's the one I was looking at ... has so much good stuff done to it already, coilovers, few engine mods, bushes etc...

Thing with your dads is it's red (imo not a colour people generally go for on the s2000s - common is black / silver)... and it's essentially standard looking exterior... for those 2 reasons I can't see it selling for the money your dad wants.

If you look on pistonheads, the one's the sell are generally silver with red interior and have ap2 wheels etc.

Generally selling - so the common ones. Dont think thats why people arent going for my dads car. The market is rubbish at the moment especially around christmas, im looking at cars and thinking I could potentially bargain a lot off them for this reason though. I had literally no interest in my car in 2 months, ended up selling to the first person who came to look at it for 700 under what I was asking.

I'd go with the DC2. But then again I'd prefer a DC2 to an S2000 anyway!
