This is it just bought with a 1600/16v.
That came outand someone "fitted" a 2ltr XE and F16.
Had a few problems with shoddy earth's, cv gators/joints and general lack of attention to detail, it was really just flung in. I'll get a pic of the n/s pot joint up, that'll explain everything!
Apart from the bike carbs and MJ, were also looking to make the battery tray removable, fit a std SD cage with extra add-ons and strip/rebuild the head with Autosprint cams/springs and maybe solid lifters, depending on the spec of the cams.
Did a compression and leak down test before stripping and figures were
1 150 and 10%
2 165 and 8%
3 145 and 13%
4 145 and 12%
Its losing compression through the inlet and ex valves, but very little by the rings, which bodes well for the head job.
So started stripping all the gubbins out.

Stripped the head on Sat, not the cleranest Iv'e ever seen, probably missed a few oil changes in it's life so far.
[img][/img]
Got a broken stud to get out and an thread insert to fit on the exhaust side, it was already like this when the car came back from the conversion

Got all the oil gallery plugs out, they can be a right pita sometimes, only damaged one getting them out

Cleaned out the galleries there was a fair bit of muck in them, it had the consistency of grinding paste!

The valves looked really good, nice gold colour on the inlets, and just a little carbon on the exhausts means the guides are not letting oil past, the seats on both have suffered a bit though.

The valve springs are funked, so new ones needed, Vauxhall or Autosprint, haven't decided on the cam yet.
So lifters, camcaps and head to clean and inspect.
This turned up.

Waiting for the inlet to arrive, MJ ordered from the States, no one in this country seems to inport them any more, unless any of you know different?

So, got the lifters stripped, cleaned and rebuilt, head cleaned and exhaust ports matched to the gasket, inlets matched to the manifold, removed two broken studs and repaired another thread.
[img][/img]
[img][/img]
Also dug out the pot joint I referred to at the beginning, it seems when it was xe'd they didn't want to buy the correct shafts, so they cut off part of an Astra pot joint and welded it to a Corsa, looks like this
[img][/img]
Had the MJ built and tested, had the loom made and installed and the edis unit is bolted into place
[img][/img]
[img][/img]
Carbs have arrived, so wired up the tps and vr sensor.

Nice one, but that cv must of vibrated like hell You get some cowboys.
I'm just rebuilding my R1 carbed van at the moment, but I've got a Boggs manifold, and H&H set up.

Won this off ebay

Removed the swirl pot from the tank, took the pimp off and modified the swirl pot to accept a 1/2 in fuel pick up pipe, Iv'e used the return on the tank as a breather, as the carbs don't have a fuel return on them.
Mounted the fuel pump just under the tank on the chassis leg retaining the std filter for extra filtration before the fuel reaches the regulater, which is mounted in the engine bay.

The car got finished and the owner had happy motoring for 8 weeks, he came round with a misfire issue, eventually diagnosed that the compression on NO 1 cyl was leaking past the rings, it had a 44% leak, with all of it passing the rings.
Matey wasn't happy, even though he had been warned that the extra compression would most likely funk the bottom end and sold the car to one of his friends.
The car has been stripped again and can be seen here.
