Looking to get a PS3 but there seems to be a lot of different ones, some slimline, varying memory etc. May be a stupid Q but what is the hard drive for (saving what level u are on?) I know you can get playtv so you can turn it into a tv recorder, is that any good?

Hard drive stores save files, downloadable content, video/music or whatever.
You can transfer files from your computer onto the PS3 either over a network or on USB and store it direct to the PS3 hard drive.
PlayTV is really good imo. I replaced my old basic freeview reciever with the PS3 and playtv - way better. Got a twin tuner too, so can watch one channel, record another etc. I think its quality and the picture is way better than I ever got before.

You can upgrade the hard drives easy enough if you want to get a bigger drive anyway, but I think the smallest they do now is 120gb anyway? So shouldn't be a worry.
My 40gb is a bit full tho, need to get myself a 250-500gb I think

I picked up my 120gb slimline from game last week for £250 with fifa 10 and grid.
You can get a slimline from sainsburys for £200 iirc

Go to Sainsbury's with a friend who works there and get it for £170 (120gB).
