Everything seems soo laggy.
Loading up programs takes longer switching webpages etc
did a virus scan with avg
and its still the same any ideas?

system tools and disc cleanup and defragmentor (sp) ? i do this sometimes and it seems to speed it up,
my pc also goes slow sometimes when its doing automatic updates and i am not aware

try disabling some startup programs.
click start, then run. type "msconfig" in there and press enter. when you get the window click the "startup" tab and unclick stuff you don't need (this is normally most things, most programs will start when asked to, so don't need to be running at startup) then click apply or ok (whatever it says) then restart the computer and see where you get

also, reinstall AVG, i've seen afew machines now where the updater for it is constantly running and maxes out the processor. if you go to task manager then processes you may notice avgrsx.exe running and taking up alot of resources
a simple reinstall normally sorts it

tbh, from what you've said i would guess at it being AVG, try a reinstall

Could try looking in task manager to see what is running/hogging resources.

download a program called registry mechanic. It removes all unused strings in the registry which are left from uninstalled programs etc. Very good piece of software! u2u me and ill send you over a license key to use the full version
