I've always thought he was a bit of a knob, especially as a pundit for the F1, but this is absolutely shocking considering he brags about being a drummer. Christ, i'm not a drummer but at least i have some form of rhythm and the ability of keeping time. As one of my old sound engineering lecturers use to say, he's "in and out of time like doctor who!"

As you've said quite a few times, you're not a drummer. You're not really in a position to make such a massive rant.

No, but what i am is a sound/recording engineer (dabble in FOH/Livesound work too) as well as a piano player, so i feel i have some idea of timing and rhythm as well as having the music theory to back it all up

it probably was a little OTT, but it's just a shame such an ace track is played by a seriously dodgy drummer (completly looses it and adds a beat when the orchestra comes in) at a major event.

Always wanted one, but parents wouldn't allow it due to my room being directly above the lounge, and elec-kits never feel right nor do they sound any good - wasn't that impressed with the TD12/20 kits considering they are the best part of £2-4k.

Yeah, they (the TD12/20, only played on a cheap yamaha eleckit otherwise) seemed to lag which was slightly worrying and they sounded toss - although you could obviously use another sound module or run a drum library, like Steven Slate (pretty damn good, use it for overdubs on drumtracks), on a laptop/pc etc. Also found the rubber cymbals to be a bit thick, didn't seem to flex much which in turn just felt weird.

I wouldn't say the Rolands were complete and utter crap, obviously have there uses (wear headphones, can be setup in a small area etc) but i didn't think they were worth the price tag though.

I can't understand the enjoyment of learning the drums. I'd love to be able to play the guitar or piano, something you can make melodies with but drums on their own are shocking.

True carl,But in all honesty you can have headphones on with a favorite track and learn the whole thing.when you get the results you're after thats when you enjoy it more.I learnt from the age of 11 but sold my kit when i was 16.i regret it every day...I want to learn pianoo but feel its abit girly so maybe later in life.

If played properly and with skill, drums can sound absolutely brilliant on their own - example, >KJ Sawka<
