..and I know what I want, but I want to know what kind of stuff to look out for.
I'll start with what I want:
Corsa (B) GLS
1.0 12v
Glacier White/Star Silver
The reason for all this is economy plus luxuries. It's basically a baby Sport in my eyes.. don't know about yours.
I know the main stuff to look out for engine wise (service history, timing chain, EGR valve, ICV, MAF) and bodywork wise (bonnet lip rust, rear wiper, sills/doors, spare wheel well).. but is there anything I've missed that I should be looking out for?
I stupidly bought a GSi in the dark (don't judge me ) and don't want to make the same mistake of not checking everything..
Thanks in advance.

if you can give the chasis rails a quick look, if they are gone when you come to MOT it you will need to get them welded

I never got around to getting the GSi on the road if I'm completely honest John..
I'm paying £1600 comprehensive insurance on a group 2 car at the moment, so I don't expect to be able to insure a Sport for anything less than 2.5k.. which in my eyes is robbery.

1600 on a group 2? what did you do drink half a brewery and hop in? i would consider going thrid part fire and theft, a gls is hardly going to cost a fortune to replace and by the sounds of things if you do crash you wont be claiming if its £1600 now

Nah, 3 points for a PC20 and postcode is BAAAAD! I've had a crash too.. Comprehensive has proven to be cheaper than TPF&T..

12 volts are more common post 97 so bad corrosion shouldnt be an issue, the basic problems are issues with the engines

Do you know something I actually really like your car and have for a bit now..
Low mileage, clean and in a gorgeous colour. Are you selling up now? Would love some details..

1.2 8v would be the most reliable, but very slow indeed.
I was looking at a couple of Corsas there, think it was two 1.2 8vs, and two 1.2 16vs and at least two of them had headgasket problems. You should have seen the gunk in the oil, same with a 1.0 12v my mate purchased recently - seems to be a very common problem.

I've heard they're slower than an OAP climaxing.. I want a 1.0 12v because I miss the economy, plus there's a lot of space in the engine bay to work with..
Rocker gasket is also something else isn't it?

1.2 8v arent that economical either apparently.
and 1.0 12vs are a pain in the arse with MAF sensors + o2 sensors!

I've PM'd Dave about his car to get some details. It does look absolutely immaculate and as you can see from the picture below.. my Corsa was immaculate too.. just how I like them:

I had a 1.0 as my first car.. I loved the economy, I loved having the space to mess around in the bay finding things out for myself etc.. Plus the insurance was £500 fully comp, as opposed to paying £1600 now!
Okay sure, a 1.2 16v won't be much different.. but I want another 1.0.

they only made them post 97, but thats makes no difference iv had 2 that iv striped for parts and scraped because of rust. all depends on where they are kept etc
