MMA training at any decent level is pretty brutal, getting knocked out in sparring is apparently the norm.
I still want to find somewhere that has BJJ classes nearby

I don't actually do Cage Fighting but I've trained in MMA. Best bet is to try and find an MMA gym that'll teach you how to strike, grapple then strike AND grapple together.
www.sherdog.net is a half-decent forum for it, have a read on there

I've been thinking about this, presume you just want to do it to get fitter and learn some moves??
Everyone thinks you want to do it as a pro not just abit of a hobby.

If you have been training boxing this will obviously be of an advantage to you as you will know the basics etc, to add to your stand up, you will need a decent ground game(bjj/wrestling etc). Alot of people will learn the different styles seperatly at different clubs and then train them altogether at an mma club. Thats eventually what ill be doing once i have the time, iv been training a couple of months now at Bury Predators and absolutely loving it. get yourself on cagewarriors.com if your serious about getting into mma fella.

Its still a case of finding the right gym. 99% cater for people wanting just the fitness side but some are definitely more fighter-orientated
Ps, its by far the best type of exercise in my eyes!

I second that Laney, its the hardest most tiring thing iv ever done, and thats just the bjj/wrestling part never mind when everything else is thrown into the mix .
I havnt been able to afford to train recently but should be sorted after xmas then i can get back to training properly as im looking to have my first amateur fight before xmas next year

I trained in karate for a few years in the uk, now Muay Thai here, and just taking up BJJ aswell to cover the ground aspects, as been said you need to be at least good in all areas and itll help if you're damn good in one area in particular that u can focus on more. Also train to what you're body will be good at, ie flexibility, strength, stamina etc some people are catered more for certain types of fighting
