yeah but the 1.6 16v is the worst vaux engine desinged in the world. msoo many in built faults and modified standard parts. cos it was too powerfull so they stucck the stupid manifold on to restrict it and dnt even mention the egr system lol!!

yeah the EGR isa paint, but they also changed the inlet port size and shape aswell. Its only down 5bhp or so but they are nippy as . lol my actual engine was bullet proof. Waterpump let go in the end. Didnt touch my valves either. But it was C20XE time anyway . Fazza is right, 1.4 8v and 16v are favourites in grass tracking etc, some nutty cams available (will give bike like power delivery lol) also carbs are easy to find for it, off the old 1600 and 1400 vaux 8v's, can get a pair of them and mod the standard inlet or get a performance one.

yeah its cheap to cam up an 8v you only need 1 lol . grab a lairy ass cam, nice carb with cold air feed, and a full zorst with the manifold and your car should breath lovely. Give you lots more mid/top end power, by lots i mean relatively speaking lol, but not big figures.
will rev more freely etc and depending on how lairy your cam is you may loose all bottom end
