I had both a Pipercross cone filter and panel filter on my sport, drove alot better with the airbox and panel, and when de-restricted it made the same sort of sound so can't go wrong with a panel IMO.

I have a Courtney Sport panel filter, which is the same as a Pipercross just rebranded, with a drilled and derestricted airbox and all works fine.

Enclosed induction kit > panel filter imo though... something to think about if you're looking to change things about.
