Thinking about what car to get after i sell my Uk Classic Scooby and think i've decided on modifying a Golf TDI to around 180/200 hp and 300lb Torque.

Anyone had experience in this area? How much would one be looking at to do this? Would 200 require a new turbo and intercooler? Ideally what is the best figure with just a remap?

Also is it best to get a 150 hp jobbie and go from there or just get a cheaper 130 example??

I've had a Fadia VRS which really i only sold to lose the finance payments but i also got a bit bored so i'm after more power this time and IMO the Golf is/can be a much better looker

Thanks in advance..

the 130 and the 150 will only remap to 170 - 180 I think, I dont think the 150 remaps further as its just a 130 engine with a different factory map,

Novaneil has a fabia with the same PD130 engine that has 220 ish bhp and 360ish tourques

he has a better turbo and so on though

I did have a feeling that 180 was the limit after being on the Skoda forums for a while

I suppose 180 is enough though? Just a remap then for that amount? Is REVO still the best place to go?

The 150 has bigger turbo and injectors... My mate just bought a 130 GT TDI with 80k on it, lovely car. I own a 130 TDi Ibiza (same engine) and its brilliant. A remap will see you to 165-170ish, the 130 engines usually put out around 145, as seen by most who have a before and after RR job. I'd suggest a new uprated clutch if you remap as it will drastically shorten the life of the standard one. Before a bigger turbo I'd be looking at FMIC/exhaust systems etc, that should get you up near the 200 mark. Hope that helps

PD150 has the same injectors, the PD100 (as found in other cars) has different injectors to the 130/150.

Go for the PD130, more reliable than the 150.

A stage 1 map on a PD130 will see 165-180bhp and 270-300lb/ft (real figures, not bullshit figures given off by lots of tuners), a stage 2 (you will need FMIC, zorst and filter will push a little more so 175-185bhp upto 320lb/ft but you will need a new clutch and flywheel.

You nearest good tuner is Awesome GTi in Manchester, but to go a little further, see Paul at RS Tuning in Leeds, he always finds loads more torque than any other tuner! Also his maps are run by the 2 quickest TDI Ibiza's in the UK

Edit, to back up my comment about the injectors, here is a screen shot from ETKA, showing the same part number for the ASZ (PD130) and ARL (PD150)

Forgot to say, a mates PD130, is in stage 2 and that has 174bhp and 315lb/ft! Which will more than likely be better than the 191hp and 281lb/ft someone said about earlier

just got a pd 130 and love it, mods have started already too but leaving the engine until summer to sort out after the impreza is done got a cold air kit waiting to go on, il be doing forge fmic, possibly a different turbo/de-cat and then have it mapped. decat and exhaust are meant to make a big difference.

they rekon 130 is most reliable, an to watch out for the pd150's between 01-02 due to cam problems. after that theyre fine

130 and 150 have diff turbo but same injectors. up to about 170/180hp is about standard clutch safe. the 150's tend to make about 10hp more then the 130 when mapped. after that your looking at fmic/hybrid turbo and better brakes to for over 200hp

my mates got a load of generic maps i could have for cheap but like i said im leaving it for now, he rekons he got 200hp out of a 130 a few weeks ago, but i dont know the complete spec on it so cant comment its only a rumour.

ps why you thinking of selling the impreza, AGAIN?
