When I bought my Zaf I was seeing 36mpg Now the cold weather is here I'm getting around 20 because it never gets up to temperature, the needle just sits down below the first line unless I rag the shit out of it after which im lucky to get it half way up the gauge.
My first thought was thermostat so I replaced it with a new one, I checked it sealed and tested the new one in a pan but alas its still running cold.. If I leave it idling on the spot it takes about 15 minutes to get over the first marker.
Any ideas? I'm scratching my head here!

But mine hasnt even seen 90! Even today it wouldnt go up to 90 (8 degrees outside).. The highest it would go would be the second line which is about 70 lol!
Went out in the Impreza, 5 minutes she's in the middle (granted its got a turbo).

i wrote the abvove a bit wrong. i mean to say i drive the car for 20 mins on way to work and the temp is still below 90.
corsa is similar to impreza then i imagine. when it was -6 outside it still got up to 90 ish degrees quite quick.

Z18XE, fresh vauxhall pink stuff.. Takes AGES for the top hose to get warm, MPG is from the onboard computer.

Yeah I replaced the thermostat.. The water pump is working as the bleed off hose on the stat' housing and the tb hose are both working perfectly..
I'm going to take a look at the plugs and see if they are coked up as I suspect its running rich as a bitch all the time.

Plugs are coked up to feck! So I've replaced the plugs and chucked in a new air filter.. Will see what happens.
I'm pretty sure the CTS is correct.. I'll measure the temperature to double check.
