thinking about buying myself a new car, not brand new. my racing quad is going once i get back onshore, and i will be getting about 3.5k for that, then selling the birds 206 (hoping for around 1.6k) and all my other crap i have lying around (vectra,corsa,2.0xe engine, etc)

It will be a car for me but mainly the bird,as i work offshore, and then when its summertime my CBR will be out.

was thinking along the lines of:

Honda CTR (she really likes them)
Leon Cupra R
S3

Opinions/suggestions ?

(cant be RWD, i would buy an e36 m3 in a flash, but woman+rwd=bad idea)

All good choices,i personally don't really like CTR's. LCR's are nice cars, not that quick but nice inside and look pretty nice. I would have the S3 but i depends on how much you would spend on one.

i aint too worried about the speed thing, my days of boy racing are long gone.

i was looking on PH, looking to spend around 5-6k,maybe 7 if i save up.

not wanting to take out credit/loan, would rather just buy something staright out.

LCR and S3 are basically the same car, S3 more luxury, LCR more practical

You should see a tidy facelift S3 for your budget but make sure you shop around, there are some real rough ones out there. Dont be put off by slightly high miles (80K+) if they have been maintained thoroughly you shouldnt have any problems, look for specialist servicing rather than Audi main dealer, it shows the owner doesnt have more money than sense and specialists tend to be more thorough.

Any Qs on S3s drop me a PM mate

Out of those 3 cars i've had 2 mate so the one I would deffo go for is the LCR.

MUCH better drive than the civic, quicker to and a hell of a lot more modding potential plus the civic will be heavier on fuel that I found out. To many neds driving about in CTRs for my liking now.

The Audi is a great car as well but a lot more expansive than the other 2. It will be higher mileage for a start plus there pretty bland lookin imo.

E36 M3 dosnt have T/C control.Just a plain and simple LSD.

If an M3 is on your list, its a no brainer.

They are pretty tame for normal day to day driving. Its when you press on that they open up.Thats when the fun starts.

Is your g/f a safe, cautious driver??Keep off the gas going around corners(or dont give it too much) and it will be just like driving any other car really.

S3 would be my next choice, always loved them.
But as said, alot of them, for some strange reason are dogs. They are quite well known for being wrote off or having some sort of accident damage history.

Couldnt fault my CTR loved it to bits, nice and easy to drive park etc and pootle around in when not on the hoon and reliable

Just make sure she keeps an eye on the oil, I know women arnt big on this

Although at the moment they are fetching good money and are a bit over priced

LCR could be a better shout and would be a more comfy nicer daily car possibly with more low down grunt. Although cant say much as I have never been in one

Drives supercharged Tec with torque
