Took the dog for her usual walk around a West Yorkshire reservoir near where I live. This reservoir is called Holme Styes. The Hades bit comes from the name of the village, that did lie where the bottom of the reservoir is; before the waterboard flooded it to make way for the res!
The abandoned houses are the old 'outskirts' of the village - and are all that's left.
