Hi all. Looking at getting a GSi kit for my car. Got my eye on a front bumper atm. Just wondering though, I know the rear aeches are shorter, but are the front ones any different? Are they shorter too? Or wider or anything? Or could I get my fronts sprayed up?

Anyone know any good sites to buy GSi arches from? Or are they still available from Vaux at all? Because obviously they wont have the texture will they, they will be smooth for painting I would of thought?

Any help appreciated, cheers Carl.

Happy new year everyone BTW!

if the car is not a gsi to start with.. if you get the side skirts ever so slightly out then the cut arches do have a little gap.... seen it on so many corsas that people have fitted them at the shows.. I fitted my skirts then cut the std arches spot on to the skirt, and in my eyes it looks miles better.. but im just fussy

how do you work that out?

Not that the gsi arches are made to fit the skirts or anything

Yes..they are for a gsi mate.. read post above...

I got gsi arches from vauxhall and sold them on as by cutting them i got them to fit better. no gap.

Suppose the skirts might sit in a slightly different place if they're tiger sealed on, as opposed to if they are mounted using the clips like on a proper GSi?

Thats so true mate... I actually drilled the holes and fitted the propper clips but as you dont get a template you will never get them exact so the arches will always be diff.

im talking a margin.. but that margin anoys me

I know mate.. vauxhall is not cheap. I like the sport back bumper as it covers the towing eye so just got the side skirts and front bumper brand new from auto-vaux for 300 quid

only problem with sport bumper is the swage line goes all the way to the arches where as the gsi front doesnt so it doesnt really match

thats why i went with the steinmetz rear

It looks miles better were it meets the back wheel arch.. its does'nt have to match the front, the back of a gsi bumper does'nt really match the front. the back groove does'nt run round the side like the front so there is no real following line

Cheers for the replies lads. Mark, how much are you after for bumper and skirts? Off for a bumper today in Lanark for £100, in caribic blue, but it is mint, with fogs, splitter and grill...

Then will have to get it sprayed etc.

So you reckon chopping the standards is the way to go then?

Its really upto you buddy... I just found that I got a better fit, after i fitted the side skirts the arches I got from vauxhall had a slight gap and it did my head in so I sold them on and cut the std ones.. It does take patience though matey

there std arches cut and they meet the skirt bob on.

Like i said though mate.. Im just a fussy c**t

Haha, I'm also a perfectionist though mate! Well I bought the bumper anyway, so I'm on the look out for skirts, L-Pieces and maybe arches then!

they actually dont list most the gsi parts, sideskirts and jacking covers on service anymore. theyre all special order which they cannot guarantee they will be able to get hold of. bumpers they still sell.
