Frontera is winning at the min they r cheap have been looking at the Sj413 as well just seems a bit of a pussy 4x4 tho even tho it did hold its own on topgear the other day

Suzuki SJ's are very capable and like mechano to work on. Its hard to find a solid one these days though as they are prone to rusting

Probably one of the best out there for the money, very light and nimble for an offroader and surprisingly robust.
Fourtraks are also worth a shout for a grand. My mate picked up a 2.8td fieldman for 600 notes 2 years ago.

I would get anything with proper 4WD eg with a centre diff that can lock.

..shud be oreyt that... guarunteed youll buy a disco within a month diff locks for the win, personally id have gone sj their light weight means they can get anywhere... ive had most offroaders at one time but my sj was my fabourite....
