Hello, thought i'de start a new project thread on here, although it's going to be a slow project!
The car was my brothers, but now the head gasket's gone on it so he's said i can have it, as he needs a newer bigger car anyway. So the cars a 1.6 16v corsa sport, about a month ago he spent around £500 to get it through the MOT, this included all the rear brakes, new Cat, and two new tyres on the front. The cars got irmscher side skirts on, momo arrows, lowered 60mm, AMAZING bonnet (my brother bought it with this on), colour coded and the BMC air filter that's all i can think of for now. My plans are to take the engine out, and rebuild it including all the bottom end. Clean the engine bay up whilst the engine's out, underseal the car, hammerite the rear beam, and put poly bushes in, and also swap my GSi fornt bumper, two wings, two front arches, rear bumper and the boot off my SXi, which will be done after the engine's done and all running again , White alessio's and coilovers, here's some pic's of the sport;

And hers's a few pics of my sxi now that i'll take the panels off;

Yesterday i tightened the rear hubs up as both wheels moved about 10mm either way, even though it had new drum's about a month ago , i also managed to fix the central locking which i was pleased about, and it was just a connecting rod had come off, and a dodgy earth , also managed to fix the electric windows whilst i was there, was just dodgy runners , so all's good.
Next job is to get the engine out and start rebuilding it, need to get my hands on a crane first, and wait for this snow to go away!
Thats all for now, cheers

Today i've disconnected all the sensors, inlet, clutch and throttle cable, air filter, fuel rail, radiator and the power steering hoses, so now all's left to do is dissconnect the gear linkage and the aircon pump, and it's ready to come out

No, it's shocking don't have a clue what the person was thinking, the only thing that it might do is cool the air as it goes through the inlet, but at the same time if it's raining it soaks that whole engine!

Today i've removed the power steering pump, and air con pump, what an absolute bitch of a job that is, all's left now is to undo the rear mount and gearbox and it's away, just need to find an engine lift :/.

you just twist it mate it should pop apart after playin with it for a while, the right hand part of the loom stays with the engine and the other bit of the loom goes through into the car into the ecu, so just put that bit aside while u take the engine out

Today i started to sort my manifold, and as i haven't got alot of money atm because of not being able to work because of this rubbish snow, and having to rebuild the engine, i'm going to be putting the standard manifold back on for now...
So today i Filled the hole where the SAI pump went into...
First of all i cleaned the manifold with a wire wheel in the drill...

Then I found a bolt

Rounded the head off in the bench grinder

Cut the end off

And plugged it into the hole, i also cut a threaded bolt and put it in the torx bolt hole

Tomorrow i'll go up to the farm and mig weld these in place, then grind them down and buy some manifold paint from frosts.

Thanks

Small update today, i started to underseal the car today first of all i pressure washed the rear arches and all around the rear wheel holder, then wire brushed anymore rubbish off, then undersealed it with hammerite underseal;

Before

After

Then after i took the rear bumper off i noticed there where spots of rust, so i wire brushed any loose rust off and treated it with rust killer, and left it for half an hour;

Then undersealed it

I've also took the exhaust off today, so tomorrow i can do the whole underside

Today i also dropped the rear springs, and the battery tray off at the powder coaters, going to be satin black

Don't know if anybody's reading this, but i'll carry on updating anyway

Nothing exciting today, i finished undersealing the underside of the car, and hammerited the rear beam and brake drums, also polished up the heat shield for some reason, and gave the handbrake cable a good greasing seems i was there anyway.

Also can anybody recommend these shocks?, thinking of getting them as the ones on it now are completely shot.
Shocks

Not very exciting update time:

Well i needed the scissor jack to get under the car, so i took the spare wheel out and lifted the matt up to see rust , so i treated this with 'Krust';

Then ground down an area;

Then i hammered some sheet metal into shape, and welded it in place, and siliconed it to seal it;

Then gave it a quick coat of wax oil, and sealed the grommits in;

Then finally wax oiled it again after the sealant had dried inside and outside;

And thats it, i hope that should do the trick, nice and solid now

Next up, i was sick of the tacky gear and hand break gaitor, so after looking for a suede one for ages and failing to find one, i decided i'de make my own , so i 'reversed engineered' it;

then made some templates;

Then bought some suede, and cut out the pieces;

and then got Mum to sew it all together ;

Made the handbrake one aswell but no pics atm, quite chuffed with them tbh
I also took the rear wiper off my sxi so its ready to go straight onto the sport and also got a new rear bumper lense, so thats freshened up abit

Cheers
