You dont run the earth cable for an amp right the way up to the front of the car

Am moving amp under glove box, for front speakers. Don't want it in the boot, and earthing to battery is a bad idea isn't it? :S

As said Any bolt that is screewed into the Body. or Run it to the Negative on the Battery! you wont get a better Earth than direct to the battery

For bigger installs you do
As already said, if you've already run the earth cable back to the engine bay, you may aswell just go straight onto the -ve terminal on the battery.

Make sure you're properly protected with the correct rated wire/fuse/holder combinations for the equipment you're loading it with, and make sure you use rubber grommets anywhere the wires go through metal

if you take the glove box out, on the left hand side there is an earth bolted to the side of the car, use that.
As far as I can remember anyway
