I have a Nokia 5800 and I think it's just as good as the iPhone; it has GPS, 3.2MP camera, you can install apps for it just like with the iPhone (Symbian OS), and it's surprisingly reliable for a Nokia (only crashed once in the 3 or so months I've had it).
Battery life is excellent too.

Ditto although I dropped mine and it now has a nice smashed screen, can still use it though, good for surfing the web

personally I hate my 5800 and theres no way I would compare it to the iphone but thats just me... also the touchscreen drives me mental - takes an age to type anything in, the handwriting is useless on the move and doesn't recognise half of what you put in, the only thing I will rate on it is the battery life - it's excellent, will go well over a week which you don't get on many phones these days- and barnshaw yes it's touch screen only apart from the call menu and end button at the bottom. may as well get the n900 if you want a nokia!

I've had the n97 mini a month and a bit and I love it, not really had a problem with it.
I didn't want a touchscreen only phone, and the slide out qwerty keyboard is nice to use, and not too small, I've got fat fingers and thumbs and i'm fine with it.
WiFi, GPS, 5mp Camera (which isn't great, isn't awful) 8gb built in memory, the music is good. Can get apps etc for it. All in all, a nice phone for Free and £25 a month.
n900 wasn't out when I got it, so can't compare the two personally

Yeah, you get full internet pages, but there's no bloody back button on the nokia browser, drives me crazy! Have downloaded Opera mini, but not used it yet. Apparently a browser update is in the pipeline, so i'd imagine it'll get sorted anyway

there is a back button gives you a selection screen to select how far u wanna go back in your browsing session. It gives you multiple windows which you can switch between and will browse almost anything on the web. Same as iphone tbh.
N900 is first Nokia with Maemo operating system. Has firefox on it and aparently designed by same people who made Linux. Im no geek so i have no idea if thats good or not!
I adore my N97, 40gb memory, great touchscreen for txting and works well in other menu's too, but lacks iPhones polish tbh. Its however very functional.

i said this in the other n900 thread, they don't currently do mms:
http://discussions.nokia.co.uk/discussions/board/message?board.id=maemo&thread.id=3242
won't be long before it does though, from the sounds of it.

you'll have to let us know.
as according to the vodafone people, it doesn't:
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?s=bdd994469ff8e6f0d956a31b8efe613e&showtopic=45815&st=20
that thread says that there is a beta app for it somewhere.

maemo.org - look for the fmms app. There are other apps out there as well, including apps to run your own mms gateway.

I have a N86. couldn't be doing with touch screen. I much prefer the tactile response from a proper keypad. And the advantage of not having a qwerty pad means one handed texting etc.
8MP camera with dual led flash, GPS, accelerometer, built in fm transmitter, podcast download function, compass, 8gig on-board with expansion slot.
it is a beast tbh
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

I was looking at the N86 Ste W as well, is that any good? Should be down in price now as well. Is it better than my N95 8gb?

My gf has got the n97 Mini, the only thing im not too sure about is the battery life don't last that long. Otherwise it's a nice decent phoen, can install (some) free apps, and some you have to pay for.
