If i claim for a panel to be resprayed that someone has keyed, does this still mean i don't loose my NCB of 8 years. Yes i'm an old bastard

You shouldn't do but I bet your premium is still loaded next year as you will have to declare a claim. I think it's a bit of a con tbh.

Depends if you have your NCB protected:
If you do, then it depends if you have made any claims within the last 5 years etc
If you do not, then i expect that you would have the 8 years NCB reduced down
Common misinterpretation is that Protected NCB = Protected premium, so no increase.
Protected NCB just protects the discount that you have built up over the years. So, if you do have a claim then you are perceived to be an increased risk hence an increased premium, but your NCB discount is still applied to that premium base figure

Surely the cost of one panel would be less than your excess?

You'll still have to declare the claim though which means you will still see a rise in your premium next year, you won't lose the NCB though.
Well that's what happened to my old man last year anyway.

Yeh by £100 which is a hell of a lot for him as he's 50+ and his premium is normally £400ish, went up to £500ish iirc. That is on a 59 plate Audi A4 Allroad, but the facts / circumstances etc are similar.
EDIT: The claim was only for around £300 too iirc.

My policy went from £290 to £390 this year though and read on here simlar things have hap to people on here due to insurance companys making a loss. Could it have been that or did they point out it was because of the claim?

Well he was told it was due to the claim - I had to remove him from my van policy last week when I renewed that too as putting him on and declaring the claim shot the premium up by £300ish - the previous year he reduced my premium by £50 lol.

Think i'll just get a new wing the same colour then
Anyway of blending the colour in of slightly mismatched? Get the feeling mine is more faded than most as i used to leave it rotten most of the time
Cheers for your help Rich!!

No worries
If the new panel is less faded, then the rest of the car should look better after a good old polish?

Aye, it's never seen polish in its life Think i did it when i first got the car and then used it for the commute.
Planning on tidying the body and giving a service this summer.
See how it turns out

If you've left it dirty its probably less likely to be faded.
