im going there in march aron, hopefully with ed to. my mates parents have a nice chalet in verchaix which is next to morrilon which is next to samoens.
They have just put a new lift in at samoens for this season which takes you straight to the top of the mountain so you can ski down the other side and into flaine via another lift. ski flaine as much as possible as its the best place i have skied, always gets the sun too some good sli parks too

i'm interested in summer holidays but i've always wanted to try snowboarding...

what are the prices of going away on this type of holiday? without some down sydnrome going "pizza, french fries, pizza, french fries". "if you pizza when you're supposed to french fry, your gonna have a bad time!".

etc
(if you havn't watched it then you're sad)
anyway, what's it cost for this type of holiday?

from a few hundred to a few thousand and everything in between to be honest - depends when in the season, where you head to, if you have gear or need to rent, lift passes for local or whole mountain, lessons,

best bet is an all inclusive deal, with lift passes, flights, transfers and lessons all included

It's a reference from the south park episode where they go ski-ing.

Anyway, cheers. Might see about it one time
Can you go anywhere and just try it without having to have lessons? because that's not much fun I would assume

you'd most likely kill someone but yeah give it a try! Being honest, its something you really should learn before you hit the main slopes. Some of the lessons can be quite good and they tend to be morning based so you can have the afternoon to go and practice.

I certainly wouldn't expect to just "get it".

I just wanna snowboard, I think ski-ing is quite boring imo.

yer, maybe lessons are an idea, iirc, there are indoor places in the UK to have a go isn't there?

yes, when I first learned I had a lesson with the missus with an instructor at the Snowdome in Tamworth; to be honest you'll learn and enjoy it even more out on a real mountain. Once you're ready and most instructors try to do this as soon as possible, they'll take you off away from the nursery slopes because the longer you run for the more you'll learn.

Most board and ski instructors are pretty cool and don't want you to be bored by only being on nursery slopes - as such they take you off onto green piste runs as soon as possible

general rule is that snow boarders always have a wet arse from sitting down all the time i prefer skiing as snowboarding doesnt interest me, also all my friends are skiiers so it makes sense.
as you are hiring equipment why dont you try both while you are there, but get lessons before you go on the slopes coz you will get injured through not being able to stop, one guy last year couldn't stop by the chair lift and went over the edge at least 80ft drop

as live lee said, can be expensive but if you get into and go on an annualy basis then you will already have kit so it then becomes cheaper. And is lee did i had th 1st lesson at the snowdome, tamworth, then taught myself with th help of my dad cos he had already done it. Imo i much prefer it to a summer holiday as its so much more fun and you can never get enough of it lee- have you or your sister ever been to or heard of saint sorlin d'arves?

haha tom. . . You are right, we do sit down more lol. . . But i do tend to see skiers fallin over alot more and regards to what you said, anyone that does it need's a lesson for basics as you will hurt yourself. . . Failing that, someone else!

Snowboarding is for cool people

Skiing is for women and old men (who can no longer snowboard)

If you snowboard because it's 'cool' then you fail at life.

I think the difference between skiing and boarding is, you break your wrist when you fall on a board and you tear your ACL or MCL when you fall on skis. Choose your discipline by what injuries you're likely to have to live with

TBH, each have their dangers...yes snowboarding has slightly more. Stay within your limits, and you should be fine.
